A broad sample of customer’s experiences with our functional test equipment is outlined below. |

Customer A
Customer A was using manual plug up’s for testing of their Computer boards with the result that:
- Their beat rate was 15 units per operator per hour.
- They had to replace over 100 cables per week.
- Had to train up operators on the procedures to be followed.
- The product changeover times were significant as the test equipment had to be reconfigured.
- They had a high level of false failures due to fractured cables going undetected until such time as the failure was solid.
- Had appox. 2.4% post functional failure rate due to operator induced failures (damaged connectors, cracked etches due to the board being flexed etc.) and frequently these failures were only detected in the field.
Tecpro introduced the IFT (Integrated Functional Test) concept whereby all connections were made automatically with the result that:
- Their beat rate went up to between 38 and 44 per operator per hour.
- There were no cable related issues.
- There was no training requirement from product to product as the procedure was exactly the same for all products tested on the IFT’s.
- There were no false failures.
- There were no post functional failures as the IFT ensured that the board was handled correctly with as near as possible zero stress.
- The product change over only required a change of cassette, which took approx. one minute.
The estimated cost saving to customer A in the first year of deployment of the IFT’s was $7.2m.
